The Office of the Inspector General of Emergency Management – Community Forums

Articulous facilitated community forums on behalf of the Office of the Inspector-General of Emergency Management (IGEM) regarding the flood events in February to March 2022. The forums commenced in May and were completed in August 2022.

The Inspector General delivered his report findings to the Minister at the end of August 2022, and was released to the public in October.

The Forum series included 13 community forums within the South-East Queensland (SEQ) region that experienced major flooding and emergency responses through the above-mentioned period. Each session focuses on the unique experiences of the various communities with the participants sharing their stories and input into opportunities for improvement with disaster preparedness, community resilience and emergency response systems.

These forums undertaken over vast areas of SEQ have provided opportunities for local communities to contribute to the investigations into the February/March flood disaster, access services from Red Cross and Community Recovery, and importantly contribute to identifying opportunities for improvement in preparedness and emergency response for future flooding disaster events.
