Young people from across Cairns helped shape climate actions for the Cairns region until 2030 as part of Cairns Regional Council’s Cairns Youth Climate Summit on the 18 October 2019. This was the first youth climate change summit to be held by a Council in Australia, delivered in partnership with Australia’s leading communication and engagement firm Articulous. The summit supported Council’s strategic planning and included:

A Survey for high school students across the Cairns region
- Youth Climate Summit with two student delegates from every high school
- A collaborative online platform to develop a youth climate statement and ideas for action
- A Student & Industry Leaders Panel Event, where students presented their final aspirational statement to help inspire, motivate and unify the community towards climate change action

- Video demonstrating the summit and forum and outputs
The summit focused on Cairns Regional Council’s commitment to tackling climate change with a specific youth focus, and:
