Articulous was engaged by Natural Resource Management Regions Qld (NRMRQ) to conduct research to support its future planning process. This was done via in-depth interviews with its key stakeholders including natural resource management groups, landowners, key decision makers and peak bodies.
The research was to provide recommendations on how to tell a compelling story about natural resource management in Queensland.
To ensure a broad cross section of stakeholders was consulted, Articulous interviewed 59 stakeholders by phone and via Microsoft Teams. They were key decision makers, peak bodies, customers currently engaged with NRM groups, customers previously engaged with NRM groups and customers never engaged with NRM groups.
The interviews were scheduled and conducted within a two-week period. Analysis and reporting was completed over a further two weeks. We achieved a high response rate of interviews by actively following up with invited stakeholders via phone and email.
We also conducted a literature review of relevant background documents which was included in a comprehensive report of the key findings. The report included customer profiles and recommendations for NRMRQ to address the issues and opportunities raised during the interviews.
A compelling story about natural resource management in Queensland. This story needed to be informed by conversations through Queensland with NRM groups, decisions makers and peak bodies.

These conversations comprised of up to 20 structured open-ended questions and additional impromptu questions to take a deeper dive into what participants shared. Customers were asked additional questions about their contribution to NRM, NRM success stories, who needs to access information about NRM and about NRM funding in Queensland.
A literature review of relevant background documents was also undertaken by Articulous and included in this report.
