The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will provide a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver lasting benefits to Queensland and Australia – building more inclusive communities, creating jobs, boosting the economy, attracting investment into the region and marketing Queensland as a world-class tourism destination on the global stage.
The Queensland Government appointed Articulous in partnership with Urbis to work with Games Delivery Partners to engage the broader Australian community to shape the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Legacy Plan.
Articulous delivered three rounds of engagement:
- A Hopes and Dreams survey and campaign capturing 12,555 legacy ideas
- The Brisbane 2032 Legacy Forum with 500 community and industry representatives proposing another 1000 big ideas for legacy projects, policies and other initiatives
- Engagement and survey on a consultation paper testing draft legacy vision, themes and focus areas.
The early engagement stage of the project saw all Australians invited to share their ‘Hopes and Dreams’ for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Legacy Plan and envisage how the Olympic and Paralympic Legacy could deliver benefits by 2032 and for the ten years after the Games to 2042. This phase involved a series of stakeholder workshops, followed by a community survey, youth survey and forum delegate survey.
To ensure the campaign reached young people, First Nations people, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people and people with disability, Articulous designed and delivered an interactive young people’s activities kit as well as fully accessible online survey and engagement campaign. More than 46,300 people visited the ‘Hopes and Dreams’ website page.
Held in March 2023, the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Legacy Forum invited more than 500 community and business leaders, sports stars and youth representatives to contribute their perspectives on the Legacy Plan and share their create, bold and city-shaping ideas for the future of Brisbane. A total of 1,000 ideas were captured at the Forum, ranging from high-level aspirations to tangible actions.
A further 100 stakeholders were also engaged from September 2022. The 14,000 legacy ideas that were shared through the ‘Hopes and Dreams’ survey, the Legacy Forum and other targeted stakeholder engagement efforts.
The ideas gathered through this engagement campaign were used to guide the draft legacy vision, themes and focus areas. Following its release to the public, the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Legacy Consultation Survey was open from March to June 2023 to seek further community and stakeholder feedback.
Articulous worked across all areas of communication and engagement including:

- Facilitating community and stakeholder engagement during workshops and the Legacy Forum
