Bernard Houston

Facilitator, communicator and creator Bernard has led engagement and behaviour change programs for State Government, Local Government and in the not for profit sector. Bernard's passion for building community capacity and encouraging wide, deep and rich dialogue draws upon his long experience as an engagement practitioner and is expressed through award winning programs that juxtapose core engagement techniques with innovative technologies and events.


Unlike many engagement and communication professionals, Bernard comes with a project management background, having most recently been program manager for Redland City’s new transport plan.  In addition to this experience, he has led engagement programs for numerous and significant projects such as the Toondah Harbour and Weinam Creek Priority Development areas, the Redland Coastal Adaption Strategy and the Redland City Plan.


Bernard’s experience in designing and delivering successful behaviour change programs includes Redland City Council’s Waste-Not-Want-Program, Brisbane City Council’s Active School Travel Program and Queensland Transport’s TravelSmart program.
